Do You Think Bad Habits Can Be the Reason For Obesity?
In today’s world, with all the media attention to the fast and easy way to do things, it is not strange that nearly 2 billion people are either obese or totally overweight. It’s too easy to stop at the fast food chains, it’s so easy to buy meals already prepared and ready to cook in a microwave. We like to give our own responsibility to others. At least we have someone to blame.
Why do we make it so difficult for ourselves to loose weight? It is all about habits. If we need to exercise 3 times a week to be in a good shape, most of us will start doing this and then give up. If we need to eat specific types of food to stay on a diet, we fail to maintain. If we do not have a club that we need to visit that put us on the spot, most people fail to loose weight or to keep up with a program
The old habits that got us into the mess, is too easy to fall back on. If anything happens that break our new routine, we easily fall back on the things we know. It is the same with every part of our being. Anything that is new, we tend to loose interest in very quick.
If you want to distance yourself from the crowd and be part of a success story, understand that your habits determine your future. Negative habits breeds negative outcomes, as positive habits create positive outcomes. That is the way it is.
Developing successful habits takes time. It is said that to change a habit takes anything from 21 days to 29 days of repetition. You need to make it your own. Your mind should see it as natural. It should not be possible for you to think of your old habit anymore as the way to do things.
An easy way to change a habit is to make a checklist. If you follow this list every time you start something new, you can hardly fail. It is no secret why a Pilot use a checklist every time he/she fly, it is to make sure they follow the procedure although they have done it maybe hundreds of times. Now obviously you need to make it a habit to follow your list.
A tip to change your bad eating habits with a new healthy one:
• Follow a menu for every day of the week.
Be sure you know what you will eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Be prepared with the food, Buy fresh and cook at home. There are hundreds of recipes that is easy and fast to prepare, and is still very healthy.
Bottom line, if we want to succeed in anything, we need to change the old bad habits into new good habits.
