I am sick to the pit of my stomach because of the bad habits that endangers lives. This really irritates me. Although some are irritating but there are others that are extremely worse. Frankly speaking, there are some friends who practice them but they never think about the effects they could be causing to others.

It feels sad losing a cherished friend on a careless happening that otherwise could be voided. Some of these bad habits that our friends and other people could be having are:

1. Not paying attention to their physical condition. This is when they frequently work under the influence of sedatives.

2. Another bad habit to be avoided is working while sleepy. This happens especially to those friends with two jobs. They should find a way of getting sufficient sleep despite tight schedules.

3. There is the bad habit of electricity and this can lead to electrocution. There are friends who use frayed extension cord which may cause fire. Again there are buddies who will use a metal ladder near power lines which is a too dangerous and foolish thing to do.

4. Some dangerous habits are due to one being irresponsible. It is easy to forget that driving can be dangerous if it’s not done cautiously. For instance a friend may be phoning or answering a call while driving. This is extremely dangerous as it will make them to focus on the phone or deeply engage in a conversation without noticing the car ahead of them.

Similarly, women might apply their makeup while driving, believing they’ll be able to watch the road at the same time. They might get away with it for a while, but eventually there will be an occasion when their lack of concentration will cause an accident.

Statistics have revealed that a good percentage of passengers and drivers do not wear safety belts. This is also dangerous. The safely belt is there to protect you from the impact force whenever an accident occur. It is not meant only for long journeys but for all times whenever you are driving or you become a passenger.

5. Driving under the influence of alcohol is the worst bad habit. If you’re drunkard and you usually drive while not sober, then you’re not only endangering yourself but also others.

Those innocent people could be a single parent, an infant, a senior citizen, a friend etc. You could kill someone on the other vehicle, a passenger on your vehicle or make life miserable if they survive with critical injuries after the accident.

If you have any of these bad habits, you need to ask yourself the reasons that makes you have them. There should be some action you can take to lessen them. Determine what that action is, and then implement it to ensure safety all the time.

It’s one thing to have incredibly fast fingers on the fret board, but you need an equally fast guitar picking hand to do some real damage in a solo. When you watch a professional guitarist closely, their picking hand is almost in a machine-like blur that moves fluently with the fret fingers.

It looks pretty amazing and you’ll be able to pull it off too someday with practice and determination, but there might be some things right now that you’re doing to your technique to hold you back. Here’s a list of things you might be doing that can limit your ability to improve on fast guitar picking.

1. You’re just too tense.

There are a lot of very rigid guitarists out there who move in a very tense manner and they’re only preventing themselves from improving. Learn to loosen up and have a comfortable grip on the pick when you play so you can reach your maximum speed.

2. You use too many muscles.

A lot can be put into your fast guitar picking action, but you might be doing more than you need. Realistically, the movement of your wrist and fingers and the tiniest bit of your forearm will suffice.

If you add any other muscles into the mix like shoulders or something, you’re doing too much.

3. You hold the guitar pick with too many fingers.

Using too many fingers on the guitar pick applies to the issue of having tense muscles. With less fingers holding onto the guitar pick, you’re allowing the muscles in your hand to loosen and move with fewer encumbrances.

4. If your guitar is on the strap, you might have it hanging too low.

Stereotypical grunge players like to have their guitars hanging well below their waste so they can hold up this dark image of hanging low when they play, but it’s bad practice for playing fast. For fast guitar picking, you want your guitar hanging at your waist at the very least so your picking hand and fret hand have plenty of space to move without straining.

5. You hold your pick too far away from the tip.

The more control that you can put on your guitar pick, the easier it is to speed up the motion. Grab your pick a little closer to the tip near the strings the next time you play and you should have a bit more authority on the speed of your picking.

6. You’re not double-picking, but only using down strokes.

Without learning how to double-pick by striking the strings by moving both up and down, you’re really keeping yourself in the amateur leagues. Every time that you have a long string of notes or chords, you can double your fast guitar picking by going up and down.

It’s best to resolve these bad habits early before they turn into something that may take weeks or months to get rid of. Remember these tips the next time you have some fast picking to do and you should be hitting new speeds soon.

Eating disorders are characterized by an abnormal obsession with food and weight. Eating disorders are much more noticed in women than in men due to the fact that men often don’t seek help.

We believe, that for most people, a link exists between habits formed long ago and eating disorders.

An eating disorder is a complex compulsion to eat in a way which disturbs physical, mental, and psychological health. The eating may be excessive (compulsive over-eating); to limited (restricting); may include normal eating punctuated with episodes of purging; may include cycles of binging and purging; or may encompass the ingesting of non-foods.

Being overweight is generally caused by the intake of more calories (by eating) than are expended by the body (by exercise and everyday living). Factors which may contribute to this imbalance include:

* Limited exercise and sedentary lifestyle

* Overeating

* Genetic predisposition

* A high glycemic index diet (i.e. a diet that consists of meals that give high postprandial blood sugar)

* Hormone imbalances (e.g. hypothyroidism)

* Metabolic disorders, which could be caused by repeated attempts to lose weight by weight cycling

* An eating disorder (such as binge eating disorder)

* Stress

* Insufficient sleep

* Psychotropic medications

* Smoking cessation

The amount of body fat is regulated to some extent subconsciously by the brain (by controlling caloric intake through appetite and food preferences). Although the exact mechanisms by which this occurs are not entirely known, one common theory suggests that each person may possess an inherent “set point” weight which the brain attempts to maintain, and that this set point may vary for each individual depending on a variety of factors including genetic predisposition, environment, and past experience. A habit link from the past can trigger this set point.

This leads to the conclusion that some individuals may be predisposed to naturally maintaining different body weights than others, and thus it may be easier for some people to avoid being overweight, while others may find it much more difficult. It also suggests, however, that an individual’s set point may be changeable with appropriate environment and conditioning.

Treatment

A large number of people undergo some form of treatment to attempt to reduce their weight, usually either in an attempt to improve their health, to improve their lifestyle, or for cosmetic reasons. The generally recommended treatment for being overweight is a modified or controlled diet in conjunction with increased exercise. For those who are obese rather than overweight, more intensive therapies such as drugs or surgery are sometimes used.

Studies suggest that reducing calorie intake by itself (dieting) may have short-term effects but does not lead to long-term weight loss, and can often result in gaining back all of the lost weight and more in the longer term. For this reason, it is generally recommended that weight-loss diets not be attempted on their own but instead in combination with increased exercise and long-term planning and weight management.

Moreover, for all individuals, repeatedly losing weight and then gaining it back (“yo-yo dieting”), is believed to do more harm than good and can be the cause of significant additional health problems.

Is there a underlining issue that may work better than dieting for eating disorders?

Definition: Habit – Noun – Singular

1. an action done on a regular basis.

Example: It’s become a habit of mine to have a cup of coffee after dinner.

Let’s take the above example. Many years ago, we started a habit of drinking coffee after dinner. It was a time to relax and talk about the day. Unfortunately, the coffee must have 2 teaspoons of sugar for our tastes. If we wanted 2 cups of coffee that became 4 teaspoons. Every night, day after day, week after week the sugar and calories added up.

Another example was our lunch time at work. The sub sandwich shops figured out years ago that to increase the revenue per customer, a combo meal made a great “up sell”. Unfortunately, the combo meal usually included a large selection of chips. High in fat and questionable nutrition value, chips have become a habit in our eating styles.

How many of you also stop at the local coffee store on the way into work for calorie loaded coffee and maybe a muffin to make you feel full going to work?

Each of these examples OVER TIME becomes a habit. The habit makes your brain crave the food/drink/mood when you stop or alter the routine. We now know that good habits can replace bad habits if the desire is truly there.

Our next article will talk about what steps you must take to change the habits creating a chaotic eating disorder.

People smoke mostly in the form of cigarette. Some people use even cigar, beedi, pipes etc. All these contain dried leaves of tobacco plant. A cigarette or any such thing is lit for the purpose of inhaling smoke. That smoke contains a harmful substance ‘nicotine’. Tobacco is an agricultural product, grown in the farms. Farmers get good income by growing the tobacco as an agricultural plant. Tobacco is also used in preparation of some medicines. But when tobacco is used to smoke just for pleasure, is harmful to life.

Smoking causes many harmful diseases like lung cancer, emphysema, heart attacks, high blood pressure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and can lead to birth effects. Some people smoke just for fashion. Generally a person starts smoking with friends or colleagues just for fun. Slowly they get addicted and later they reach to a stage where they can’t resist themselves from smoking and become ‘chain smoker’. Chain smoking means a person continues to smoke almost without break. If once a person becomes ‘chain smoker’ then it will be very tough to that person to keep himself away from smoking even for few hours and this habit leads to death.

It is found that mostly men smoke, but the habit of smoking is also seen in some women and it is a very dangerous habit for women, when compared to men. Because researchers have found that smoking leads to more health hazards in women when compared to men. Smoking habit is found more in young women when compared to old women. Smoking habit is found in women of backward rural areas and also in so called Hi-Fi society. Smoking is dangerous for pregnant women. Because it will show affect on the child in the womb and may lead to birth effects.

Smoking affects not only the person who smokes, but also the people around that person. The people who are around the person who is smoking are forced automatically to perform ‘passive smoking’. This passive smoking is more dangerous when compared to direct smoking. Passive smoking can be found in public places like bus stands, railway stations and in any closed room with less ventilation. Government has banned smoking in public places. But it is not being implemented strictly any where in the country. There are some countries which strictly implement ban on public smoking. But in our country still it has to be implemented.

Every year many people who are dying due to diseases caused by smoking habit. It includes men and women. Government should implement strict ban on public smoking and also usage of tobacco in any form. Because some people chew tobacco in many forms. Many companies are producing different products by using tobacco. People who use tobacco feel that they are enjoying but day by day the habit will lead to many diseases and ultimately to death also.

Government is implementing some rules that on every cigarette packet it is printed as STATUTORY WARNING: SMOKING IS INJURIOUS TO HEALTH. But even when the person who smokes the cigarette from that pack reads it and continues to smoke. People who are well educated also resort to smoking as it becomes their habit. Some even say that smoking keeps them active and it will help them in getting new ideas and leads to creativity. But in fact it is not true. Nicotine which is present in tobacco keeps a person active only for some time, but it show long term ill effects. Some street children also resort to smoking regularly which is more dangerous than adults.

Smoking is a bad habit which causes not only inconvenience to others but also harmness. Those who are addicted to smoking can quit smoking by undergoing some treatment and also some methods such as deciding strictly not to smoke and if even they smoke, smoking some herbal cigarettes which are not harmful to health. Thus slowly then can quit smoking completely. On 31st may we are celebrating ‘world no tobacco day’. Mere celebrating such days is not sufficient, but every person who is addicted to smoking should try to quit smoking and no person should try smoking for what ever reasons they have to smoke. Because smoking is a ‘bad habit’

There are certain bad habits that are pit fall for debts. Bad habit of transferring balances on high interest cards to lower rate cards thinking it is effective but actually, this very good idea can backfire. Transferring a balance to a card with low introductory rate and you have the chance to save money on the interest only if you can hold back on charging on it and insist on paying off the balance before expiry of the introductory rate. However, in reality what happens is people continue to charge on the new card and end up in more debts when the teaser rate expires.

To solve your problems you have to find the root cause of your problem. If you are neck deep in debt, take a back calculation to recount the missteps you have taken with your cash. This will help you to realize your weakness and prevent you from making same mistakes in the future. Generally, consumers suffering from debit make common financial mistakes that they can overcome with behavior changes and discipline. You can take guidance from finance guides to find way out from the crisis.

If you cannot refrain from new purchases balance transfer will not prove helpful to you. When you are doing new purchases, it can pull entirely a different interest rate, if you are confident enough that you can handle both the new and old card then only attempt the balance transfer. If the situation is too much complicated leaving, you with no finance resources for clearing the debt get yourself a part time job and with that money clear your debt load. If still you cannot get a job cut back on your unnecessary expenditure like extra mobile phone costs, restaurant outings, use the saved cash to pay off your balances. If you are making any new, buys pay for it in debit card or cash.

Debt is Really Just a Bad Habit sounds like such a simple answer to such a difficult problem. Prove it to yourself in three shopping days by following this approach.

Step One:

On the next three shopping trips, make a note recording if you paid the purchase with a credit card, a debit card, or cash. As soon as practical record the items you bought, the price paid, and how the payment method. Keep recording this information for the three shopping day proof period then summarize the results.

Your summary should have four columns: Item, Price, Payment Method, and Real Price (Cost of Debt). Once the summary is complete, do a tabulation of your shopping activity summarizing the amount purchased by using credit card, debit card, or cash.

Step Two:

When you have the totaled numbers, go to your checking account balance. In today’s world recording of purchases or cash withdrawals from out accounts is real time. Compare the debit card purchases to the amount spent in shopping. Do the same for any money withdrawn from an ATM to use in shopping. If adjusted for the amount that remain in your hands the amounts for cash and debit card purchases should balance to the prior balance and current balance of your account.

There will be no bank balance change for a credit card purchase as this is a Debt incurred purchases not a paid purchase. Somewhere, at some organization you owe money. Compare that debt with available cash in the bank. Is it less then, more than, or the same as the balance in the bank? If the balance is, the same or more you could write a check and eliminate the debt.

Step Three:

We do not take that last step, the step that would keep us out of debt, we say we will wait for the bill from the credit card company to arrive and pay it off then. We do not. We see what the minimum payment is, pay only that as we have a trip planned for the weekend, and need our cash.

A Simple Approach

The simple approach addressing the habit of creating debt-using credit to buy products, is shopping without credit cards for the next three shopping trips of any kind. Grocery shopping, clothes shopping, beauty treatments shopping and do it all with cash or debit cards.

It you cannot shop in cash, debit card approach you have a credit card habit to address. This habit ranks up to the top in a list of hard habits to break, it is in the same category as Stop Smoking; it is as hard for people to do. Both are habits, both are harmful; both can ruin both your health and life in many ways.

A bad habit can be like a weight on your shoulders that you bear every day whether it is something minor like biting your nails to something social like a need to put people down to something unhealthy like smoking or drug addiction. If you have decided that you need to stop whatever habit it is that is plaguing you the question of how to stop bad habits needs answering if you cannot seem to just turn it off. The problem most people encounter with bad habits is that if they were easy to stop repeating they would have a long time ago, but now they have been doing it for years it is ingrained and will be a subconscious action most of the time. Sometimes this habit can be so overwhelming that we can label it an addiction where the need to continue is so strong we give in and continue because it feels comfortable or pleasurable even if we logically know we need to stop doing it. So what do you do to quit a habit that you desperately want to be rid of?

1. Identify Causes
One thing many people do not take into account when trying to lose a bad habit is identifying the original cause of the habit. While for some this may not apply, for many habits there are triggers that make you do them or some event that made you start that you need to understand. If you start doing whatever your bad habit is stop and analyze what just happened before you acted that might have been a trigger. Was it something someone said? Was it something you saw? Was it sheer boredom perhaps? There are an infinite amount of reasons so you must find the one that affects you! Once you know the triggers you can then trace them back to the original cause of why these triggers activate you habits. This may not help you quit straight away but armed with this knowledge you can make better decisions and maybe sort out issues in your life that trigger the habit making it less of a problem.
2. Be Positive
I used to think positive thinking was just a load of hogwash but once you try it you realize it is not a magic cure-all to problems but it does have an impact on how you think and act. If you become negative you can become apathetic or give up on ideas much more quickly. If you concentrate on the good side of things your body and mind actually help you stay on the positive and happy side aiding your effort to break a habit. To help stay positive think of all the good things that will come from breaking your bad habit. What benefits will come from this, write a list down and keep it in your pocket if that helps but do not think of all the bad things associated with quitting or it becomes a slippery slope you may slide down.
3. Reward Yourself
While it may feel like you are training a dog don’t be embarrassed, people learn in the same way as well! Celebrate your successes with some small rewards to keep you motivated and keep you looking forward to that reward. Set small goals and when you achieve them have that reward then set a new tougher goal to achieve. It can become like a game and it builds your confidence like no other.
4. Replace Your Habit
One pitfall with some habits is that when you stop doing them you are left with a hole in your time that you have nothing to fill it with leading to a fall back into the habit if you do not have a new option. One action you can take is to find a new habit to replace it … but this time make it a healthy or good one. Spend that time exercising maybe or take up a fulfilling and creative hobby. Find something to occupy your mind that is a positive influence in your life rather than a negative one.
5. Build on your Success
Every success and achievement of a goal should be celebrated and every failure should be ignored. If you focus on failure you will invite more failure and if you focus on success you will find more success. What is the point of thinking of your failures? all it does is bring you down and make you lose belief in yourself. Put it out of your mind and think of the successes and I guarantee you that your successes will start becoming more frequent than the failures until before you know it all you have is success and a habit you USED to have!

Using these tips I hope you can start quitting your terrible habits and start a new chapter in your life. The answer to how to stop bad habits is never though so you must tailor the solution to your own life.
