Thanks for the article. I had often wondered if speed reading was for real. I learned a lot watching them. I didnt really learn to speed read but I now understand how it works. Being a little thick headed myself, I needed more help so I had to buy a book on speed reading which was a waste of time. It was the Evelyn Woods system and can you say boring! Most of it was hype telling you how great the system was and that was the reading exercises. I didnt learn speed reading from the book either. Then I decided I might have to invest more than $5 in this quest so I bought the Speed Reader-X software which teaches speed reading and it finally taught even me to speed read. It had lots of exercises that helped me prove to myself that I could speed read which meant I was not wasting my time. It also had structured lessons which helped me improve my speed and stop sub vocalizing. Really great stuff and I only regret not starting this journey sooner. Speed reading is great. Dont let the nay-sayers put you off of the idea but at the same time dont think the sales hype is all true, you will not be a speed reader overnight. It takes some practice and I was doing it for a month before I saw solid improvement and was able to remember what I was reading. Good luck if you are on this same path, maybe you will meet me at the end of your journey too.
