Habits are responses that are automatic. We do not care who you are, you have some type of habit. Some habits are small and people are fine with them. Then, there are those medium and large habits which people want to change. If you have some type of habit, then you need to learn to stop bad habits. Your mind is very strong, but with the right type of advice, you will be able to quick those bad habits you may have.
First of all, you need to realize that you are dealing with bad habits. You will not be able to get rid of those habits until you realize that you have them.
Habits may be responses that are automatic, but they did not just show up. There is something that programmed that habit so that it could act as an automatic function.
In the same way as you programmed your mind to do that automatic function, you can program it to stop. This will take a lot of paying attention to what you are doing. As an example, when you bite your nails, you may not even realize you are not doing so.
This is a habit at its fullest. When you catch yourself biting those nails, do not continue doing so, stop. Also, pay attention to everything you do and tell yourself that you will not bite your nails.
